This project was created by a team of four, including myself, for a collaborative studio course that I took in spring of 2024. My role in this project was mainly background design and illustration, while also having a part in character design.

Background Designs
This is the background used for the "Drey" territory within the city of Astralis, who are the magic-using and scholarly people that live within the city. Their architecture is old and traditional, with large academies for teaching magic and modest homes for living. The Drey value their magic and traditions, and see the "Wiran" as a threat to nature and their way of life in Astralis.
This is the background used for the "Wiran" territory within the city of Astralis, who are the technology-using and inventive people that live within the city. Their architecture is optimized and innovative, with large factories for manufacturing and compact housing units for living. The Wiran value their technology and innovations, and see the Drey as a people who are stuck in the past and unable to see the potential of their technology. The Wiran aim to incorporate an electricity grid across the city, providing power to all of Astralis' people.

This is the background used for the encounter with the mythical "Fomori", an ancient being who once protected the city of Astralis, but has since been missing. He possesses the "Citali", a crystal that both the Drey and Wiran seek as a power source for either their magic or electricity. the Fomori knows the people of Astralis are divided, and turns to you, the player, to make the decision of what to do with this power.

Character Designs
These character designs were developed with a simplistic art style that utilizes uniform line weight and cell shading. The visual novel titled "Astralis" is centered around the city of Astralis and its polarized population, with every citizen siding with either the use of magic or technology in their daily lives. My character designs are of those who use technology that call themselves the "Wiran", as opposed the magic-centered "Drey". The Wiran's design incorporates baggy clothing, elements of their developing technology, and asymmetrical apparel in contrast to the Drey's tight and orderly appearance.
